Offer a few easy choices: wave, take a photo, or watch first. Keep a trusted adult nearby and let the child change their mind.
Invite everyone to a group hello or short story. Make closer interaction and photos optional for each child.
Ask the lodging or venue operator about party space and entertainment permission. Ask us to confirm the character-visit program, costs, and availability.
For a family gathering in Ulysses, Kentucky, keep the character moment separate from any lodging plans. Make room for an unhurried hello, with the birthday child free to wave, talk, or stay close to a trusted adult. A short group cheer or story can include guests without requiring individual turns. Organizers can set a photo spot and share the schedule with relatives ahead of time. Send our team the requested date and party details, then confirm the chosen theme, program, costs, and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Kentucky State Parks' FAQ describes reservations for lodge rooms, cottages and campsites. If the plan includes an overnight stay, check the current booking and cancellation conditions for that accommodation. Contact the actual park about separate gathering space and hired entertainment; an overnight reservation does not establish birthday eligibility or event permission.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
