In Ursa, a little advance planning can leave more room for children to enjoy their character's arrival at their own pace. Set aside a clear spot for a short greeting and group photo, then offer a small choice: wave, pose with a grown-up or watch. Tell guests when the visit is expected so the moment does not interrupt food or another activity. These are suggestions, not confirmed program features. Ask us about the requested character; confirm timing, program details, cost and availability with our team. The checks below reflect statewide guidance, not verified Ursa facilities or rules.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Illinois DNR provides a directory of state park picnic locations. Use it to identify the exact state-managed property, then check its shelter booking process, facilities and access with the operator. A picnic listing is not a reservation or approval for hired entertainment, and it does not establish rules for municipal parks.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
