In War, a character visit can be the party's featured moment without taking over the whole gathering. Set aside a short greeting, then let children choose whether to wave, talk, join a simple group activity or watch beside a trusted adult. For photos, invite the birthday child first and offer guests a turn rather than requiring everyone to pose. Before settling on a location, check what the specific property allows; statewide guidance does not verify facilities or event rules in War.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
West Virginia DNR describes lodging options within its state parks and forests and links to the official park directory. Identify the exact state-managed property, then ask whether there is a reservable gathering space suitable for your proposed activity. Confirm access and hired entertainment rules; a lodging listing does not establish group-event eligibility or approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
