Let the child pick between a wave, a greeting with a parent nearby, or watching first. Avoid making a hug or conversation part of the plan.
Ask the theme provider about program format, cost, and availability. Give the organizer the schedule and a clear point of contact for arrival.
Offer a short, optional group activity with turns, and let children pass or watch without being singled out.
For a Wayside, Texas gathering, make the character's arrival easy to follow: have one adult welcome the performer while another helps the child decide whether to wave, talk, or take a photo. A brief greeting followed by a simple group game or story-style moment can keep the visit manageable. Leave room for children to join in at their own pace, including from the sidelines. Ask our team to confirm program details, costs, and availability; no local venue rules are verified here.

Texas Parks and Wildlife directs visitors to reserve group facilities by phone rather than assuming every booking can be completed online. Check the current process for the exact group facility and describe the gathering and hired entertainment to the park. A phone reservation route does not establish that the proposed party activity is eligible or available.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
