Let the child watch beside a trusted adult and choose whether to wave, speak, or join a photo. Avoid making a greeting or hug a requirement.
Plan a greeting, a short photo window, and one activity, with a pause available. Tell guests where to gather and keep the approach clear.
No. A ZIP code or date request is not a reservation or payment. Ask us to confirm the theme, program details, cost, and availability.
For a gathering in Apple Grove, build the character visit around one clear moment: a warm hello that the child can accept with a wave, a quiet look, or a closer greeting. Invite family to join a photo afterward, then move into one short group game if the children are ready. Keep the space and schedule manageable, especially if the party is at a property with lodging or shared facilities. Ask us about the requested character theme; program details, costs, and availability must be confirmed.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
West Virginia DNR describes lodging options within its state parks and forests and links to the official park directory. Identify the exact state-managed property, then ask whether there is a reservable gathering space suitable for your proposed activity. Confirm access and hired entertainment rules; a lodging listing does not establish group-event eligibility or approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
