Our visits start at one hour and can be extended in 30-minute steps to 1.5, 2 or 2.5 hours. Many parents choose a length that covers the greeting, a game or two and the cake, then adjust based on the number of guests.
Many families plan outdoor parties, but the venue has to approve outside entertainment and any setup. Ask the park or property manager about their rules before you choose an outdoor date, and have a backup plan in case of rain.
Ask whether outside entertainers are permitted, what access and setup times apply, and whether there are rules about noise, equipment or the number of guests. Get the answers in writing if possible.
Options often discussed include a welcome, a story or song, a simple game, and photos with the guests. Confirm with the character which of these fit the visit you choose before you finalize the plan.
Aurora is a large city in Kane County, Illinois, so choosing a character visit here usually starts with the same questions as anywhere else: which character will delight your child, where the party will happen, and how long the visit should run. The notes below focus on those choices and on what to confirm with the venue before you book.
Start with the birthday child's current interests. A young child who loves animals, superheroes, princesses or a favorite cartoon will respond differently to each theme, and a character that matches those interests tends to make the visit feel personal. If you are hosting several children with different tastes, ask whether the character can adjust the pace, from a gentle greeting for the youngest guests to a more energetic game for older ones.
Before you settle on a date, contact the venue you have in mind, whether it is a park shelter, a community room or a home, and ask whether outside entertainers are allowed and what their rules are for setup and access. Some places have their own rules about timing, noise or equipment, and it is much easier to learn those early. Our character visits begin at one hour and run in 30-minute increments, so a 1.5 or 2 hour visit is available if you want more time for games and photos.
Ask which activities the character can offer, such as a story, a song, a simple game or photos with the guests, and confirm which of those are part of the visit you choose. Ask how the character prepares for a birthday in your neighborhood and what happens if the weather changes on the day. Clarify how many children you expect so the character can plan how much time to spend with each one.
