Let the child stay with a trusted adult and watch from a comfortable distance. Offer a wave or photo later, but accept a quiet no.
Use one brief group activity after the birthday child's greeting. An organizer can invite small groups forward for optional photos while others watch or play nearby.
Ask us about the requested theme, then confirm program details, costs, and availability with our team. Separately, check your location's conditions and permission for entertainment.
A character visit in Belding, Michigan, can work well when the birthday child knows what to expect and has a choice about joining in. Start with a friendly greeting from a little distance, then offer a wave or photo. Once children have settled, invite them to one short group activity without putting anyone on the spot. Organizers can prepare by sharing the date, setting, guest ages, and preferred visit moments when asking us about a theme. Confirm program details, costs, and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
