Offer a wave, a hello from a seat, or time to watch first. Do not require a child to pose or approach.
Try a brief shared wave or group photo, with an adult inviting children to join only if they wish.
Confirm venue permission and logistics with the operator. Ask us about the requested theme, possible program, costs, and date availability.
In Dennis Port, Massachusetts, keep the character's first appearance flexible: the child can greet them from a familiar adult's side, wave, or wait before joining. A small guest activity can follow once everyone is settled. Outdoor plans need an indoor alternative and a clear adult decision maker for changing weather. No Dennis Port facilities or policies are verified here, so confirm details with your chosen location. Ask us about the requested theme, possible program, costs, and date availability before building the schedule around a visit.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
