Invite guests to wave or join a photo in small turns. Make watching from a comfortable distance a valid choice.
Ask about the exact shelter, nearby facilities, conditions, booking and permission for hired entertainment. Do not assume a listing covers every rule.

In Ellison Bay, leave room for the birthday child to set the pace. A warm greeting can begin with a wave, followed by an optional photo with a trusted adult nearby; guests can join in a small group once the child feels settled. Give the organizer a simple timeline so the visit feels manageable rather than rushed. Ask us about the requested character theme, and confirm program ideas, timing, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Wisconsin DNR describes the reservable picnic shelter at its MacKenzie Center and its booking route through the State Parks reservation system. Treat this as one state-managed facility example: check the actual shelter, nearby facilities and conditions with the operator. Confirm permission for a hired character visit; the listing does not establish rules for every Wisconsin park.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
