Pick one photo spot and ask a helper to invite guests in small groups. Keep the moment short and allow children to opt out.

For a party in Gordon Lakes, New Jersey, start by matching the gathering plan to the actual place rather than assuming a park feature is available nearby. Keep the character visit easy to follow: a welcome, a birthday-child photo, then an optional group activity. Guests may join in, wave, or watch. Ask us about the requested theme and confirm details, cost and availability with our team. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Gordon Lakes venues or policies; verify every facility directly.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
As a city-scoped example within New Jersey, Edison municipal parks provide the published park amenities directory. Edison publishes a park amenities directory with pavilion, picnic grove and playground fields. Use the directory to check facilities for your group, then ask the responsible venue about reservations and paid entertainment; an amenity listing does not reserve it. This example applies only to Edison's listed municipal facilities; other cities and state-managed parks have separate operators and rules. Confirm the exact venue's reservation process and permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
