They can wave from a parent's side, watch first, or join later. Keep physical contact optional and follow the child's lead.
Use a designated spot and invite small groups forward. Leave a little open space so the character and children are not crowded.

Josephville's celebration plan can stay simple: welcome the character, give the birthday child an easy way to say hello, then offer a short activity and optional photos. Make room for guests who prefer to watch rather than join. City facilities are unverified, so these are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Josephville venues or policies. Ask us about your requested character theme and confirm the visit program, costs, and availability with our team before you promise specific activities.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Missouri State Parks says enclosed shelters, venues and meeting rooms require advance reservations. Check the exact facility type and current booking conditions, since open picnic shelters can follow a different process. Confirm the gathering layout and permission for a hired character visit with the operator; this policy does not establish entertainer availability.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
