Let the character greet the birthday child briefly and allow a wave or watching from a parent's side instead of insisting on a hug.
Check the exact space's reservation process, access and setup, plus whether hired entertainment is permitted.

For a character visit in Lacey, Washington, make the welcome manageable: start with a quiet greeting for the birthday child, then invite guests to join a photo or watch from nearby. A short, shared activity can help the group settle without requiring every child to take a turn. Check the booking route for the exact type of space you are considering, and arrange an indoor weather alternative. Ask us or our team to confirm the requested theme, program details, costs and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Washington State Parks identifies reservation types that require its call center. Check the actual facility type and booking channel before trying to secure a picnic shelter or group space online. Verify access, setup and permission for hired entertainment separately with the operator; a reservation route is not event approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
