Start with a wave or a view from beside a trusted adult. Avoid requiring touch, conversation or a photo.
Offer a brief shared greeting or optional activity, with a clear chance to watch instead. Tell children the plan ahead of time.
Ask our team about the theme, program, cost and availability. Check venue access and any activity permission with the venue itself.
In Laclede, build the visit around the birthday child's comfort rather than a fixed performance. A character can offer a gentle hello, while the child decides whether to wave, talk or pose for a photo. Guests may join a simple group greeting or watch first. These are statewide planning checks, not verified Laclede venues or local policies. Ask us about a character theme and possible visit outline. Confirm program details, cost and availability with our team before making plans.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
