In Lydia, South Carolina, a relaxed character visit can begin with the birthday child choosing whether to greet the guest from beside a parent or from across the room. Make the first photo optional, then invite guests to participate through a wave or a turn saying hello. For a park gathering, verify the specific space and its amenities before building the plan around it. Statewide resources can help with checks, but they do not confirm city venues or local party policies.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
South Carolina State Parks provides an interactive map and filters for its park directory. Use the actual facility listings to check the space, seating, access and amenities required for your gathering. Ask the specific operator about reservations and hired entertainment; a map result is not a venue recommendation or approval for a party.

National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
