In Oak Bowery, make the character's arrival feel easy to follow by telling children what to expect and keeping the first greeting brief. Let the birthday child choose a wave or hello, then invite willing guests to join a photo or simple group activity. A nearby adult can support children who need a pause. Beforehand, organize the visit location, arrival instructions and a rough schedule, and share them with the character team. Confirm the requested program, costs and availability with the theme provider.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
