Check the rental information for the specific center first, since rules for outside entertainers vary by facility. Ask the staff directly whether a character visit is allowed before you choose a theme.
The city's parks and recreation pages describe pavilions, pools and recreation spaces that can be reserved. Look at each facility's details to see what fits your party.
Ask the facility what backup plan it offers. An open pavilion is not a safe place to wait out lightning, so confirm with the facility where guests should go if conditions change.
Compare the room size, hours and layout on each facility page, then ask the staff how your guest count and activities would fit the space.
Plano has several city parks and recreation spaces that families sometimes consider for a birthday, and the right choice depends on the character you pick, the number of guests and what kind of setup your party needs. Start by deciding whether you want an indoor room, an outdoor pavilion or a pool area, then confirm the rules with the facility before booking an entertainer.
The City of Plano lists rentable pavilions, pools and recreation spaces, and its recreation centers offer room rentals with published rates and hours. Compare an indoor room, which usually suits a seated character show, against an outdoor pavilion, which can suit a more active visit. Ask the facility how it handles weather and whether it allows outside entertainers before you commit to a date.

The city's recreation centers and pools have information pages covering rental options, and the Nature & Retreat Center at Oak Point Park is one of the parks and recreation buildings with its own facility details. Read the facility page for the building you are considering, since each space can have different hours and uses. Once you have a shortlist, call or review the booking details to confirm the room size and layout.

Consider asking whether the room can be set up for a character to enter from a separate area, whether there is space for a few activities such as a sing-along or a simple craft table, and how long the room is reserved. You may also want to ask about parking, a place for the guests to gather, and any rules about decorations. These are good questions to bring to the facility; the answers will depend on the specific space.
