Yes. Make waving, watching and approaching optional, and let a caregiver stay alongside the child.
Set a photo spot away from the main entrance and ask an adult to help guests take turns. Keep the moment brief and optional.
A date request alone does not confirm a visit. Confirm the venue booking separately, and check availability, cost and program details with our team.
In Porters Sideling, keep the party plan flexible until the gathering space and date are confirmed. For the character's moment, a brief introduction followed by an optional wave or photo gives children a clear invitation without pressure. Ask one adult to guide guests and another to handle pictures, so the visit stays easy to follow. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Porters Sideling venues or local policies. Ask us about a theme and confirm visit details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Pennsylvania DCNR publishes payment conditions for confirmed state park picnic pavilion reservations. Check the current confirmation and cancellation process before treating a requested date as secured. Confirm the exact pavilion, access and permission for hired entertainment with its operator; the pavilion payment and the entertainer's quote are separate arrangements.

National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
