Give the child a choice to wave, talk briefly, or meet the character beside a caregiver. Do not require a hug or a solo photo.
Invite children to take turns with a simple greeting or join one group photo. Tell guests they can watch instead of coming forward.
Ask the theme provider about the requested character, activities, timing, costs, and availability. Check venue permission and reservations with the operator.
In Saint Mary, shape the character visit around a few easy choices rather than a tightly packed schedule. The birthday child might wave first, share a brief greeting, or pose for a photo with a trusted adult close by. Let guests join in small turns or watch comfortably from the side. Before choosing a space, check its exact facility type and ask the operator about hired entertainment. The guidance here is statewide, not confirmation of Saint Mary facilities or local policies; confirm the program, costs, and availability directly with the theme provider.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Missouri State Parks says enclosed shelters, venues and meeting rooms require advance reservations. Check the exact facility type and current booking conditions, since open picnic shelters can follow a different process. Confirm the gathering layout and permission for a hired character visit with the operator; this policy does not establish entertainer availability.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
