Have the character greet the group briefly, then give the birthday child time to watch. Offer a wave or a photo beside a trusted adult without pressing for a close interaction.
Let the birthday child have the first photo choice, then invite guests in small groups. Keep the photo area clear and allow children to opt out.
Check the facility's booking route, access, setup rules and permission for hired entertainment. Ask us separately about the character program, cost and availability.
For a Shore Acres party, plan the character's first few minutes around the birthday child rather than the crowd. A brief hello, a wave from a comfortable distance and an optional photo give the child time to decide whether to join in. Ask us about the requested character theme, program options, costs and availability; details need confirmation. If you are considering a state-managed space, first check which reservation channel applies to the exact facility, then verify event permissions separately.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Washington State Parks identifies reservation types that require its call center. Check the actual facility type and booking channel before trying to secure a picnic shelter or group space online. Verify access, setup and permission for hired entertainment separately with the operator; a reservation route is not event approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
