Yes. Let children wave, watch or join a photo when they feel ready. Participation does not need to be a group requirement.
Pick a spot with room for family groups and keep the route clear. Let guests know photos are optional.
The reservation route alone does not establish permission. Check with the operator and confirm visit details with our team.
In Skamokawa, Washington, a thoughtful character visit can give children a special moment without making the whole party revolve around it. Start with a greeting at a clear meeting spot, then let guests choose a photo, a short activity or time to watch. Tell families the approximate visit sequence so transitions feel predictable. If using a park facility, check its booking route and permission directly. Ask us about the requested character and date; program details, cost and availability need confirmation.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Washington State Parks identifies reservation types that require its call center. Check the actual facility type and booking channel before trying to secure a picnic shelter or group space online. Verify access, setup and permission for hired entertainment separately with the operator; a reservation route is not event approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
