A character visit in Alanson can work best when children know they may join at their own pace. Start with a friendly greeting, offer a group photo, and invite guests to take part in a short activity if they like. For an outdoor party, decide who is watching the weather and where the group will go if conditions change. These are statewide planning checks, not verified city venues or policies. Ask us to confirm program details, cost and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
