Set aside a clear spot and invite children to take turns if they want. A group photo or watching from nearby can be an equally comfortable choice.
Ask about the exact space, conditions, access and permission for hired entertainment. Do not assume one state facility's arrangements apply to another site.
No. A date request does not reserve the visit or count as payment. Confirm details, cost and availability with us.
For an Alban gathering, focus first on the specific space you plan to use, then shape the character visit around the children. A friendly hello, optional photos and one short shared activity can keep the program manageable. Guests may participate or watch. State guidance describes one Wisconsin-managed shelter example, not a verified Alban venue or a rule for every park. Ask the chosen operator about permission, and ask us to confirm program details, costs and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Wisconsin DNR describes the reservable picnic shelter at its MacKenzie Center and its booking route through the State Parks reservation system. Treat this as one state-managed facility example: check the actual shelter, nearby facilities and conditions with the operator. Confirm permission for a hired character visit; the listing does not establish rules for every Wisconsin park.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
