Let the child watch from beside a trusted adult, wave from a distance or join later. Avoid making a close greeting the only way to participate.
Use one familiar spot, invite children without pressure and ask an adult to take photos while the organizer supports the group.
Ask the venue about its exact space and entertainment permission. Confirm the character program, costs and availability with our team.
In Avalon, Wisconsin, make the visit work for both energetic guests and children who need a quieter start. Ask us about having the character greet the group briefly, then offer optional photos or a simple shared birthday wish. The organizer can keep the schedule manageable by choosing one main activity and leaving room for children to observe before joining. If considering a state-managed or other outdoor site, verify the exact space and its conditions first. Program details, costs and availability need confirmation.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Wisconsin DNR describes the reservable picnic shelter at its MacKenzie Center and its booking route through the State Parks reservation system. Treat this as one state-managed facility example: check the actual shelter, nearby facilities and conditions with the operator. Confirm permission for a hired character visit; the listing does not establish rules for every Wisconsin park.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
