Let the character greet the group before inviting anyone closer. Watching, waving and participating can all be valid choices.
An Edison directory describes Edison facilities only. It does not confirm a Beach Haven location, booking or permission.
Invite families one at a time and let guests decline. Keep a familiar adult nearby for children who want support.
For Beach Haven, New Jersey, keep the plan focused on a warm introduction and a clear path for guests to join or simply watch. Ask us about the requested character theme, program ideas, costs and availability, and confirm details before building the schedule. Set aside time for a greeting, optional family photos and a simple activity. Give the organizer responsibility for directing the group, while caregivers help children choose their comfort level. Because city facilities are unverified, contact the actual venue about access, reservations and entertainment rules rather than relying on examples from elsewhere in New Jersey.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
As a city-scoped example within New Jersey, Edison municipal parks provide the published park amenities directory. Edison publishes a park amenities directory with pavilion, picnic grove and playground fields. Use the directory to check facilities for your group, then ask the responsible venue about reservations and paid entertainment; an amenity listing does not reserve it. This example applies only to Edison's listed municipal facilities; other cities and state-managed parks have separate operators and rules. Confirm the exact venue's reservation process and permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
