Begin with a distant wave and let the child set the pace. A photo or conversation can wait, or be skipped.
Invite children to join a short activity or group picture, while making it fine to watch from the side.
Choose the greeting area, photo spot, adult weather lead and indoor fallback. Share timing and guest details with our team and confirm the program, cost and availability.
In Broadford, make the visit easy to adapt by deciding in advance who will guide the group if plans need to change. The character can greet the birthday child with a wave, leaving time for the child to warm up before photos or conversation. Keep guest participation optional: children might join a song, pose together or simply watch. If the gathering is outdoors, identify a real indoor fallback and a clear route before the visit. Confirm theme, program details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
