Invite children to watch, wave or join when ready. A trusted adult can stay close, and no one needs to pose for a photo.
Choose a clear spot away from the main path and have an adult organize turns. Leave enough time for children to approach at their own pace.
Share your ZIP code, preferred date and visit idea. Ask us to confirm program details, costs and availability; the request itself is not a reservation.
For Bucyrus, Kansas, build the character visit around a comfortable pace rather than a packed schedule. Start with a greeting that lets children wave or stay beside a familiar adult, then offer a short group activity and optional photos. Choose an adult to watch the weather and help the group move if needed. City facilities are unverified, so confirm your location and backup route directly. Ask us about the visit, with program details, costs and availability confirmed first.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
