Yes. Treat watching from a caregiver's side as a valid choice, and avoid asking children to pose or touch the character.
Set a small photo area and invite families forward in turns. One adult can guide guests while another keeps the birthday child's pace comfortable.
Share the date, setting, requested character theme, approximate guest ages, and any access or comfort needs. Ask us to confirm details, cost, and availability.
In Carlson, Washington, make the character visit feel predictable by telling children what comes first: a greeting, a chance to take pictures, then a short group moment. The birthday child can choose to meet the character close up or stay with a caregiver. Keep participation open to guests who prefer watching. When asking us about a costume theme, share the setting, timing, guest ages, and any access considerations. Program details, costs, and availability need confirmation. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Carlson venues or policies.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Washington State Parks identifies reservation types that require its call center. Check the actual facility type and booking channel before trying to secure a picnic shelter or group space online. Verify access, setup and permission for hired entertainment separately with the operator; a reservation route is not event approval.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
