Yes. Offer a wave, watching nearby or an optional activity, and let children decide when or whether to participate.
Make the birthday child's photo optional and give them time to choose. Keep a clear area so other guests can join without crowding.
The supplied directory is for Edison only, not Castle Point. Ask the exact venue about its rules, then ask us to confirm visit details, costs and availability.
At a Castle Point gathering, the simplest way to welcome a character is to give children choices: wave, say hello, take a photo or watch from nearby. The birthday child can have a brief moment first, with other guests invited to participate in a short activity if they choose. Ask us about a manageable program for the requested character theme; confirm program details, costs and availability. Check the actual venue with its operator before relying on any facility information, since local spaces have their own arrangements and rules.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
As a city-scoped example within New Jersey, Edison municipal parks provide the published park amenities directory. Edison publishes a park amenities directory with pavilion, picnic grove and playground fields. Use the directory to check facilities for your group, then ask the responsible venue about reservations and paid entertainment; an amenity listing does not reserve it. This example applies only to Edison's listed municipal facilities; other cities and state-managed parks have separate operators and rules. Confirm the exact venue's reservation process and permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
