Let the child choose a wave, a hello from beside a caregiver or a little time to watch. Avoid making a hug or photo a requirement.
Set a clear meeting point and tell guests when to gather. Keep the photo moment and group activity flexible, and check venue access in advance.

A character visit in Cathay can feel more comfortable when the guest of honor knows what will happen first. Plan a brief greeting, a choice between a wave and a closer hello, then time for photos or a simple group game. Keep the activity optional so children can join at their own pace. Give guests one clear arrival time and prepare a place for coats or gifts away from the greeting area. Available venue information is statewide guidance, not verified Cathay facilities or policies. Confirm program details, cost and availability with our team and the theme provider.

North Dakota Parks and Recreation lists two rentable picnic shelters at Grahams Island State Park alongside a separate activity center. Use this as one state-managed facility example, not a venue recommendation: confirm which space, facilities and access conditions apply to your plan. Ask the operator about hired entertainment before arranging the visit.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
