Begin with a wave or a hello from a little distance. Let each child choose whether to approach, take a photo or simply watch with a trusted adult.
Prepare one uncluttered spot and have the camera ready. Invite children in small turns, with a clear option to skip and rejoin the celebration.
Name an adult before the party and make sure they know the indoor route. Confirm the backup space with the venue, then share the plan with another organizer.
In Chepachet, Rhode Island, build the party around a calm arrival and clear choices. The birthday child can wave, greet the character with a caregiver or watch until ready; guests can join a short group moment without being put on the spot. Set aside a simple photo area and keep the schedule loose. Ask us about the requested theme and proposed visit program; details, cost and availability require confirmation. The following weather suggestions are statewide planning guidance, not verified Chepachet venue policies or facility information.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue.
