Let the child watch from a caregiver's side or wave from a distance. There is no need to insist on touching or posing.
Choose a clear photo spot and invite children in small groups. Keep the birthday child's preferred level of closeness in mind.
Ask about the program, timing, cost, and availability. Share the venue's arrival instructions and any planned weather change.
In Cidra, Puerto Rico, a calm gathering plan can make it easier for children to meet a character at their own pace. Begin with a friendly greeting, then give the birthday child a choice: wave, stay with a caregiver for a photo, or join the group. Keep the activity simple and let guests participate without pressure. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Cidra venue policies. Confirm venue arrangements and theme-provider program details, costs, and availability directly.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
