A wave from a little distance can be enough at first. Let the child watch or approach with a familiar adult when ready.
Choose a clear spot and invite children in small groups. Keep the moment brief and let guests decline without pressure.
No. Confirm the venue's reservation status and terms, then ask our team to confirm character program details, cost and availability.
For a Clearfield, Iowa, celebration, keep the character moment focused and flexible: a welcoming hello, a shared activity and a photo invitation children can accept or skip. If you are coordinating with a state park shelter or lodge, review its current change and cancellation terms before aligning plans with an entertainer. Confirm the precise space and permission for the proposed activity with the operator. Give the organizer a clear schedule and let guests know where to gather. Ask us about the character theme; details, costs and availability require confirmation.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Iowa DNR publishes a deadline for changing cabin, lodge and shelter reservations. Review the current change and cancellation conditions before coordinating the gathering date with an entertainer. Verify the exact shelter or lodge and the proposed activity with the operator; a reservation change policy is not permission for hired entertainment.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
