Yes. A wave, short greeting, or photo can be enough. Let the child watch instead if they prefer.
Offer one simple group moment after the guest of honor has had time to settle in.
No. Check the specific park page and confirm current arrangements with that property's operator.
In Dahlia, keep the character visit flexible so the child can enjoy the moment in their own way. Start with a hello from a comfortable distance, then offer a photo or invite friends to join a simple group greeting. Build in a short pause between activities, especially for younger guests who may need time to settle. The organizer can prepare a clear meeting spot and share the child's interests with the character team. Confirm the planned program, cost, and availability with the team in advance.

New Mexico State Parks directs visitors to specific park pages for group shelter reservations. Review the chosen facility's current conditions, operating information and alerts rather than applying one set of amenities to every park. Ask the operator about your gathering and hired entertainment before committing to the location.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
