Choose one adult to monitor weather and guide the move indoors. Ask the venue about access and ask us to confirm visit details.
A good Dutton, Michigan, party plan gives one adult a clear role beyond hosting: keeping an eye on the weather and guiding guests if plans change. That leaves the organizer free to welcome the character and help the birthday child choose a greeting, from waving to joining a group photo. Keep the activity brief and optional. Before the date, confirm the venue's route to an indoor backup and ask us about the requested theme, program details, cost and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.

National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue.
