In East Otis, keep the character visit easy to follow: a short hello, an optional photo, and one simple way for guests to join in. Let the birthday child choose whether to stand with the character or watch from a familiar adult's side. Before the party, name an adult to watch the forecast and make the move indoors if needed. Share that plan with guests so the transition feels clear. Ask us to confirm the requested character theme, program details, costs, and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
