Let them greet the character from a comfortable distance or skip the interaction. A group photo can include them with a parent nearby.
Offer a simple choice, such as joining a brief activity or watching. Keep a clear space for photos and avoid making each child take a turn.
No. Ask the site operator about the gathering and hired entertainment, and confirm the character visit's details with us.
A small, predictable welcome can help children settle in before a character visit in El Dara. Invite the birthday child to choose between a high-five, a wave or watching from a trusted adult's side. Keep the gathering plan simple: a greeting, photo time and one easy activity that guests can join at their own pace. Ask us about the requested theme and possible program ideas; costs, timing and availability must be confirmed. These are statewide planning checks, not verified El Dara venues or policies. Verify any site's booking steps, facilities and rules with its operator.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Illinois DNR provides a directory of state park picnic locations. Use it to identify the exact state-managed property, then check its shelter booking process, facilities and access with the operator. A picnic listing is not a reservation or approval for hired entertainment, and it does not establish rules for municipal parks.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
