Invite them to stay near a trusted adult and observe. A wave or later photo can be their whole greeting.
Choose one spot with enough room for the birthday child and a few guests, and agree on a brief photo pause with the organizer.

A relaxed Fritz Creek gathering can begin with the character greeting the birthday child at their own pace. Let guests join in by taking turns with a wave, sharing a short question or watching until they feel ready. A planned photo pause helps families capture the moment without interrupting play. Alaska park reservation information applies to particular state facilities, not verified Fritz Creek venues, so check the exact operator and the gathering's permissions before settling the plan.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Alaska's Refuge Cove State Recreation Site publishes an online reservation route for its picnic shelter. Check the specific shelter, date and access conditions rather than assuming every state park works the same way. Ask the operator about permission for a hired character visit; the reservation route alone does not establish that permission.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
