Let the child choose a wave, a spoken hello or watching from beside a trusted adult. Keep the first interaction brief and follow the child's cues.
Choose a simple photo spot with room for the child to approach at their own pace. Ask before taking or sharing pictures, and let guests know whether they may join.
Share the child's preferences, party schedule and location details with our team. Confirm the character visit's program, cost and availability before making plans.
In Galesburg, Michigan, a character visit can feel comfortable when the child sets the pace. Start with a wave or a little distance, then offer a short greeting and a photo if the child wants one. Guests can join a simple hello or watch quietly; participation need not be all-or-nothing. Before choosing an outdoor plan, decide who will keep an eye on weather and where everyone can move indoors. Ask us about the requested character and visit options, and confirm program details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
