Yes. Offer the choice without pressure and let the child enjoy the greeting in another way.
Keep a simple story or group game ready, and let guests participate or watch.
No. Ask the park about gathering space and entertainment permission. Ask us to confirm visit details, cost and availability.
For a Girdler, Kentucky gathering, plan the character visit around the birthday child's comfort, not a fixed performance sequence. A friendly greeting can come first, followed by a photo only if the child wants one. Then offer the group a short story or easy game, with room for guests to watch quietly. If your plans include a state park overnight stay, check accommodation terms separately from any gathering-space permission. Ask us to confirm the character visit's program, cost and availability before making plans around it.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Kentucky State Parks' FAQ describes reservations for lodge rooms, cottages and campsites. If the plan includes an overnight stay, check the current booking and cancellation conditions for that accommodation. Contact the actual park about separate gathering space and hired entertainment; an overnight reservation does not establish birthday eligibility or event permission.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
