Offer a wave, a group hello or a chance to watch. Keep each option voluntary and suitable for the child.
Choose a simple photo spot and ask one adult to take pictures, leaving other caregivers free to support children.
No. Confirm the specific property's rules and approval directly with its operator.
For a Haldane birthday, make the character visit a manageable pause in the day: a gentle introduction, a group wave and a short activity children can join or simply watch. Let the birthday child choose whether to stand beside the character for a photo or stay close to family. These are statewide planning checks, not verified Haldane venues or policies. If considering a state park picnic location, identify the exact property and check arrangements with its operator. Confirm theme-provider program details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Illinois DNR provides a directory of state park picnic locations. Use it to identify the exact state-managed property, then check its shelter booking process, facilities and access with the operator. A picnic listing is not a reservation or approval for hired entertainment, and it does not establish rules for municipal parks.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
