Start with a wave or hello from a little distance. Allow the birthday child to choose when, or whether, to come closer.
Invite willing guests to a quick cheer or small-group photo, while leaving room for children who prefer to watch.
Confirm venue permission, photo space, and weather plans. Ask our team about theme, program details, costs, and availability.
In Hanapepe, a thoughtful visit can give the birthday child a special greeting while keeping the rest of the party at an easy pace. Set aside a comfortable photo area and let children decide whether to approach, wave, or watch. A short shared activity can bring willing guests together without requiring everyone to join. If you are considering a state park pavilion, check its exact permit details and ask about hired entertainment. Ask us about your theme, then confirm program details, costs, and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Hawaiʻi State Parks publishes a reservation and purchase process for pavilion permits alongside camping and lodging permits. The booking window and conditions can differ by island and facility, so check the exact pavilion and dates. Describe hired entertainment to the park operator and confirm whether additional permission is needed; this is not guidance for every beach or private venue.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
