Have the character greet the birthday child first, with a wave or brief hello. Let the child choose whether to stand close or watch from nearby.
Offer one easy group option, such as a cheer or short dance, and let guests pass. Follow with photos for anyone who wants one.
Confirm the site, access, facilities and permission for hired entertainment with its operator. Separately confirm the character program, cost and availability with our team.
For a Hersey, Wisconsin gathering, make the visit easy to follow: welcome the character, pause for the birthday child's choice, then invite guests into a brief activity or group photo. Keep the path to the greeting area clear and provide a place for children who prefer to observe. State guidance offers examples, not confirmation of a nearby city venue, so check any location and its rules with the operator. Ask us about the requested costume theme and confirm program details, costs and availability before setting expectations.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Wisconsin DNR describes the reservable picnic shelter at its MacKenzie Center and its booking route through the State Parks reservation system. Treat this as one state-managed facility example: check the actual shelter, nearby facilities and conditions with the operator. Confirm permission for a hired character visit; the listing does not establish rules for every Wisconsin park.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
