Give the birthday child a choice to wave, stand beside a trusted adult or join in later. Keep the first greeting brief and let the child set the pace.
Pick a photo spot away from the entrance and invite guests in small turns. A designated adult can help keep the space clear.
Confirm the pavilion directly with its operator and handle the character visit as a separate arrangement. Ask us to verify program details, costs and availability.
A simple arrival plan can help a Hickox party feel welcoming from the first hello. Have one adult greet the character and guide guests toward a small open area, while another stays near the birthday child. The child can choose a wave, a photo or a quiet moment first. Confirm the venue and entertainer separately, since a date request does not secure either arrangement. Ask us about the requested character theme, program details, costs and availability before you build the schedule.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Pennsylvania DCNR publishes payment conditions for confirmed state park picnic pavilion reservations. Check the current confirmation and cancellation process before treating a requested date as secured. Confirm the exact pavilion, access and permission for hired entertainment with its operator; the pavilion payment and the entertainer's quote are separate arrangements.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
