In Highmore, make the plan easy to follow if an outdoor gathering needs to move indoors. Choose one adult to monitor conditions and another, if possible, to keep the character greeting calm while the group settles. The visit itself can begin with a wave and a little space, then offer photos or a simple activity for children who want to join. Share the location, schedule and guest ages when asking about a character theme. Confirm program details, cost and availability with the service.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
