Let children choose between greeting, waving or watching beside an adult. Do not require a photo or activity.
Ask the operator about the exact gathering space, access and whether hired entertainment is permitted.
No. Ask us to confirm the theme, program ideas, cost and availability.
A little preparation can make a Hilger character visit feel welcoming without turning it into a packed schedule. Choose a simple gathering area, greet children gently and let the guest of honor decide whether to wave, pose for a photo or watch first. Offer guests one easy way to join, such as a group greeting, while leaving space for quieter children. Ask us to confirm the requested character theme, program ideas, cost and availability. If you are considering a state-managed property, check with its operator before planning the event there.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks provides a state park map and links to reservations. Use the directory to identify the responsible operator and actual facilities before making a party plan. Ask about group-space reservations, access and hired entertainment for the specific property; the statewide directory does not show approval or availability for your event.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
