Start with a wave or a look from beside a trusted adult. The child can choose to come closer later, or simply enjoy watching.
Offer one short group activity or a shared photo moment. Let guests pass without explanation.
Name the weather monitor, confirm the indoor route and keep the greeting area clear. Ask our team to confirm theme, program, cost and availability.
In Hollis, a little preparation can make a character visit feel unhurried even when plans need to change. Pick one adult to welcome the character and another to help the birthday child take a comfortable first step, such as watching from nearby. Offer guests a group greeting and optional photos instead of a long line. Ask us about the requested theme and possible program, then confirm details, cost and availability with our team.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
