Let the child watch from beside a caregiver or wave from a distance. Offer another chance later, without making a greeting or photo mandatory.
Invite guests to join a brief wave or optional photo after the child is comfortable. Keep participation voluntary and allow space for breaks.
Agree on the venue's access and weather plan, then ask us about program details, cost and availability. A request does not confirm a booking.
For a Kingshill celebration, prepare a calm start and a clear weather plan so the host can focus on the birthday child. Let the child see the character from a comfortable distance, then choose whether to wave, greet or take a photo with a trusted adult. Guests can join a short greeting once the child is ready. Name a separate adult to monitor conditions and guide the group if plans need to move indoors. Ask our team to confirm visit details, cost and availability.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
Official source (opens in a new tab)Choose an adult to monitor the forecast and decide when to move the group indoors. National Weather Service guidance calls for a designated weather monitor; confirm a practical route to the backup space with the venue. This does not establish local permits, shelter reservations or entertainer availability.
