Start with a wave from beside a caregiver. The child may choose a closer greeting, a photo or simply to watch.
Choose one short group activity and one photo moment. Explain that children can take part by watching or joining in.
Ask the venue about the exact location, access and activity permission. Share your schedule and access needs with our team, and confirm program details, cost and availability.
For a Lisbon, Illinois party, start by deciding whether a state-managed picnic location truly fits the gathering; a directory listing alone does not settle the details. Plan the character's arrival as a small, child-led moment, with a nearby caregiver and the option to watch before saying hello. Guests can join one short activity and a group photo. Ask our team to confirm the requested costume theme, program details, cost and availability, and share the planned schedule and access needs.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Illinois DNR provides a directory of state park picnic locations. Use it to identify the exact state-managed property, then check its shelter booking process, facilities and access with the operator. A picnic listing is not a reservation or approval for hired entertainment, and it does not establish rules for municipal parks.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
