Offer a wave, a group greeting or a chance to watch. Children can join a photo later or skip it.
Check the specific gathering space, access, reservation process and permission for hired entertainment. Do not assume a trail is suitable or reservable.
Set a clear meeting point, keep the route open and tell the team the ages and timing plan. Confirm program details, cost and availability.
Midval families planning an outdoor character visit can keep the occasion child-led: start with a wave, invite a shared group response, and leave the photo moment open to children who want to come closer. Choose a spot where the group can gather without making a trail or recreation route the assumed party space. Wyoming's state-park information is statewide context, not confirmation of a Midval facility. Check the actual site, operator and access conditions, and have a separate indoor plan before settling the schedule.
Useful rules and places to check, each with its official source.
Wyoming State Parks describes outdoor recreation at its state-managed properties and provides a park directory. Check the actual park's gathering facilities, routes and access rather than assuming a recreational trail is a suitable event space. Ask the operator about group-space reservations and hired entertainment; recreation information is not a venue recommendation or approval for your party.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
