Offer a greeting without requiring a hug or conversation. Let the child stay beside a trusted adult and join in only if comfortable.
Choose one uncluttered spot and invite brief photos in small groups. Keep the camera ready so children are not left waiting.
Check venue permission and share the requested theme with our team. Confirm the visit program, costs and availability directly.
A Naalehu celebration can feel more manageable when the visit has a quiet starting point away from the busiest part of the gathering. Offer the child of honor a simple hello first, then let them decide whether to invite friends into a photo or group activity. Have an adult keep the path clear and help guests take turns. Ask us about the requested theme and possible visit format; confirm details, costs and availability with our team. These are statewide planning checks and parent suggestions, not verified Naalehu venues or policies.

Hawaiʻi State Parks publishes a reservation and purchase process for pavilion permits alongside camping and lodging permits. The booking window and conditions can differ by island and facility, so check the exact pavilion and dates. Describe hired entertainment to the park operator and confirm whether additional permission is needed; this is not guidance for every beach or private venue.
Official source (opens in a new tab)For any outdoor gathering, arrange an accessible indoor backup before the party. National Weather Service guidance identifies buildings with wiring and plumbing as stronger protection; an open picnic shelter is not a lightning backup. This is national planning guidance, not a local venue rule.
